Now, maybe I'm just an old school gamer, but I see one GLARING problem with the ORVR influence rewards. NONE of the Tier 2 gear has any resistance.

I played a Runemaster in Dark Ages of Camelot, and one thing I would HATE to see is my 2600DD nuke hit a tank for less then 900, I feel the Bright Wizards feel the same way when they're trying to nuke me and they're hitting me for less then the shaman behind me is healing me for. I currently have a 35% reduction to elemental damage, and above 30% on Corporeal and Spiritual as well. If I take the ORVR influence rewards, I'll be taking the full brunt of the spell damage.

So I ask you, are those influence rewards really worth it? Or in this new age of gaming, does one no longer need a suit of resist armor?

Resists are a bit overrated in the game. Remember that higher numbers as far as armor rating or toughness goes mitigates damage anyway. Most of the orvr influence rewards are the best in the game simply because they cater to increasing your damage output to the max or your healing output to the max. They usually have high armor ratings too and sometimes provide block/crit dmg reduction as well.

I wouldn't worry as much as resists as I would about toughness and armor. Toughness should really be one of your main stats for any class (as a magus it's my 2nd stat after int) as it decreases overall dps against you anyway. The nice thing about having an item with toughness is that you can still have other attribs with it (i.e. + to str and weapon skill for instance at the same) so you can lessen incoming damage AND increase dmg output at the same time. When you have an item with all resists you tend not to have room for any other bonuses with that item.

Go with the orvr inf stuff....it's honestly some of the best stuff out there. Your jewelery pieces are still going to have more than enough dmg mitigation since they have all the resists anyway...
